springtime in Tehachapi

the new "chee-chee's"

Papa and Yaya got some new baby chicks! These are to replace the ones that were unknowingly devoured by the likes of a bobcat earlier this year. It was great fun for all the kids to go see the cute little yellow fuzz balls all weekend long.

We got a lot of visiting in, first with Grandma and Aunt Myra, then S & H came with their boys on Saturday afternoon. Amelia and E had fun playing airplane outside and visiting the horses next door, despite the chilly temperature. Baby H kept us oohing and ahhing over his constant smiles!

Uncle Nick's friends came over on Sunday evening with their three children and Amelia had soooo much fun with them. Their kids are older and used to entertaining a little one, so it was nice for Dad and Mom too.

We got to stay over until Monday as Nathan had to go to Fresno for work. So Amelia and I met up with R and her two girls for some McDonald's and fun at the park. We hope to get to do that again soon.

Thanks everyone for such a fun weekend!

Getty Center

Please forgive all the pictures, this is the view of a Landscape Architect! Trust me, there were many, many more pictures I could have posted! : )

We finally made it to The Getty. Nathan wasn't able to join us, but since the only thing we really did there was the garden tour, there is much more for us to see next time. The gardens there are amazing, and one could spend all day outside exploring and observing all of the fine details. So next time maybe we'll catch the architecture tour and if there is time, the art!

Nathan said this one had to go on the blog as the "Coolest. Picture. Evah!"

Phoenix

fun times playing with ice!

cousins

Dad, Mom, Amelia and I headed to Phoenix this past weekend while Nathan held down the fort at home. The main event was J & N's wedding on Saturday, located at a beautiful park in Fountain Hills. The bride was brought in by her dad's Mercury Marauder (1969?) and the couple were married in front of a fountain that shot way into the air, keeping Amelia amazed for most of the wedding. It was fun seeing some people we hadn't seen for a long time.

The rest of the weekend was spent at Uncle R and Aunt R's house with a visit from a couple of my cousins. We had a nice time with them all. We even got to go visit Aunt R's "neighs" (or, horses, if you don't understand Amelia speak). Amelia fed Lisa the horse a carrot and was quite pleased with herself.
It was a fun trip, hopefully we can go back sometime and visit again soon!

She's 2!

Our sweet Amelia turns two today! We can hardly believe what a big girl she's turned into. She was quite spoiled this weekend with both of her Papa's and Yaya's and all her uncles and aunts here to help us celebrate. It took her awhile to get into her cake, but as you can see, she had demolished it by the end of the evening. Amelia's aunties gave her a bath afterwards to get her nice and clean. The nice folks in Fullerton got her a cake on Sunday to continue the fun. Thanks everyone for making it such a special weekend!

strollers, swings & seals

We've been enjoying having some company during the last week, but have neglected to get the camera out very much. Last week Papa and Yaya Adkins swung by for the night before they flew out for Heidi's wedding back in Illinois. And Andy B. was able to join us for dinner since he is here on business (we probably would have been more inclined to remember to take pictures if his precious baby girl was out here with him...). On Saturday Daddy and Uncle T-Bone hit up some surf while I took the ever stylish (?) girls for a walk on the boardwalk in Huntington. Morgan's mommy had to work that day, so she wasn't able to join us in the morning, but came by for some dessert after work that evening.

I've also been doing a bit of baking to have ready from the freezer for when more company comes this weekend. We're gearing up for a certain someone in our house to be two years old next week!
