Memorial weekend

a little apprehensive of Daddy paddling out into the water

hangin' with Uncle T-Bone

getting ready for Baby Brother

Our long weekend started off with a typical May-gray morning in Huntington Beach. After awhile, Amelia was ready to brave the surf with Daddy. Despite not having tremendous tubular waves, Travis paddled back out and if you look really close at the picture of Amelia climbing the hill, you can see Dave, Connie and Travis in the water. I know that to most, the little black specks in the water all look the same, but they know who they are! It was fun to run into some people we knew, that doesn't happen too often here compared to where I grew up. I guess it helps that all the bro’s tend to surf the same spot.

The rest of the weekend was spent relaxing, working around the house and working on a landscape design. I got a manicure and pedicure (thanks, Drew!) so I am now officially ready for the baby to come. : )

birds

ducks at the neighbor's

the new resident flamingo

attempted family portrait

We had some ducks visit the neighborhood this weekend, so the neighbor's called us over to check them out. Amelia was stand-offish with the ducks, but discovered a small pink flamingo that was safer to play with. The next day, it came to inhabit our front deck.

The ducks inspired us to go have a picnic near the pond the next evening. We were advised not to take bread if we ever wanted Amelia to warm up to the idea of a tranquil pond with lovely birds floating on it. I guess bringing bread equals bird’s dive bombing the children/people that are providing it. It’s been awhile since I’ve fed ducks. Amelia did fine until the swan swam over to visit, so we headed home for sweet dreams on feather beds.

Legoland and more

an apparently exciting train ride

the belly progress... yowza

Nathan and Amelia were able to go to Legoland on Saturday as Travis received five free tickets from work. I once again opted to stay home as I'd be the sixth person and walking around Legoland sounded like a tiresome way to start the labor process. Am I getting lazy or what? Anyway, their tickets were also good for the aquarium next door, so they had fun exploring that too. Every time I ask Amelia about going to Legoland, she says "getchu." Evidently something there was out to get her, but nobody seems to know what she’s talking about.

When we went to the beach last week, the waves were also going to getchu, so that gets Mommy off the hook for taking her in the water! Maybe we’ll try a pool sometime when I feel like wearing a bathing suit in public. That may be awhile as you can observe from the last picture...

play date & a picnic

baby Bridget

Daddy's building in the background (to the right)

it doesn't get much better than this...

Last week we got to go visit my friend Kari and her 3 month old baby Bridget. We had lots of fun catching up, eating Greek food and getting a sweet treat at the bakery afterward. I hope we have many more of those days!

We also picked Daddy up from work another day and had a picnic in a park by his work. Its always fun for him to get out of the office for an hour and spend time with his girls. : ) Next time there might be a little boy with us...

Side note: I ate a huge piece of chocolate cake for breakfast this morning. I'm only admitting that because I'm pregnant. I have never done anything like that in the past (well, maybe a brownie here and there).
