apple picking festivities

This past weekend we headed out to Oak Glen to pick some apples with Travis, Kim and Morgan. Amelia was so excited, she was looking for apple trees the whole drive out there. First, we grabbed some lunch to get some energy for the rest of the day. Kim and I had grilled (sharp) cheese sandwiches with bacon and apples on it, it was quite delicious.

There were lots of fun things to do out there: little shops in playhouse sized buildings, a wild west show and all sorts of apple oriented goodies to eat. We headed up the road to a u-pick orchard that was really neat, called Riley's Farm. It ended up being an ordeal to just go pick apples, but it was fun. We took a hay ride and eventually got to go pick some apples and pears. Yum!

it's not a John Deere, but it was still cool!

Oh wow! I have been wanting to go to Riley Farms so bad. Did you just go this past weekend? I have been bugging Cody for years and he said yes finally this year (because of Bridget). We were thinking of going next weekend maybe. Lots of apples still?

Wow--the Riley's sell a lot of apples and pears judging by their farmhouse : ) Amelia looks good in her hat--she should really come wear it here and join in the harvest fun!

That is a great place to take kids! They have wonderful places to take fall pictures:)! We went a couple years ago but it was really cold. Judging by the girls clothes you guys had some nice weather!

That "ordeal" outing looked like fun - the sandwiches sounded good too - creative cooks!

Okay, I must say that I've been thinking about the lunch you took all weekend. We're having grilled cheese and tomato soup tonight for dinner and I wish I had some bacon to add. I DO have apples that we picked this morning, so I'll have to give that a whirl!

Love the pics of the old farmall tractor. Ian's very jealous. :) Looks like you had a fun time. Come visit if you want/need some pictures of a combine! :)
